Sharon’s background began in about 2001 with decorative arts using acrylic paints. As experience grew in painting and through art classes, she began using her own photographs as source material. You can usually find her in some art class….Past and present instructors include Naomi Ullum, CDA (Hutchinson, KS), Sharon Leiker, Brian Hinkle, Mary Binford Miller, and Melinda Weis. She is an active member of Kansas Art Guild and editor of its monthly publication “Brushstrokes” and the Kansas Academy of Oil Painters.
Paintings are exhibited in a glass walled space in The Kiva, O.W. Garvey Building, Wichita, KS where most all her art can be viewed Monday-Friday, 8-5 and open 10-12 AM on Tuesday & Friday. Lay-a-way plans available. Ongoing exhibits with other KAG and KAOP members at the Catholic Care Center, Wichita, KS. In addition to the shop, other venues are or have been: Coutts Art Museum, El Dorado, KS; Derby Public Library, Derby, KS; Kansas State Fair; MarkArts; Presbyterian Manor.
Victory in the Valley, a cancer support non-profit organization, is home to one of Sharon’s most loved paintings of the “Victory Bridge” located at the conference center in Hesston, KS where VIV holds its annual women’s cancer survivor retreat. Sharon is a long-time breast cancer survivor and has volunteered many years for VIV.
